In the comprehensive assessment of the likelihood of confusion between opposing marks, descriptive elements are not excluded from the outset and generally from the assessment of similarity. However, this does not rule out the possibility that one or more components of a complex label can shape the overall impression. This standard is also to be used when assessing a sign that is composed of several components to form a word.
